Authentic Internal Medicine charges an annual membership fee that covers all office visits, virtual care, and any other communication with your doctor. The membership carries no co-pays. Renewing members who pay by credit card pay a 3% processing fee; renewing members who pay by check or ACH direct debit pay no renewal fee. The practice does not accept insurance for membership fees or medical visits. However, labs and vaccines bill directly to your insurance. Optional add-ons like the MyRisk Hereditary Cancer Test are covered by most insurance plans; the Galleri multicancer early detection test is not covered by insurance.

Membership opens when panels have availability, and the practice maintains a wait list when individual panels are full.

Yes. Authentic Internal Medicine offers same-day and next-day appointments for urgent matters. Members also reach their doctor directly by phone, secure app text message, or MyChart during office hours. Direct doctor access is available after hours for emergencies.

Yes. The practice offers virtual care visits for members. Virtual visits fall under the annual membership fee with no additional co-pay.

Authentic Internal Medicine serves adults ages 18 and older. The practice accepts patients regardless of prior conditions or medical history.

The practice offers three optional add-ons beyond the core membership. The InBody 970 body composition analysis costs $200 per year and takes about 70 seconds per session, with quarterly use recommended especially for patients on anti-obesity medications. The MyRisk Hereditary Cancer Test screens for 11 hereditary cancers and costs approximately $250 if insurance does not cover it. The Galleri multicancer early detection blood test screens for more than 50 cancers and costs $1,000; insurance does not cover this test.

All three physicians hold admitting privileges at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The practice also coordinates care with Central DuPage Hospital and maintains long-standing referral relationships with Northwestern Medicine specialists.

The Authentic Teaching Kitchen (ATK) is a monthly cooking and health education series that Drs. Schultz and Lagone launched in October 2023. Each session pairs an affordable, nutritious recipe with a health topic taught by the physicians. Sessions take place at the practice office in Westmont, welcome community members, and are free to attend. Space is limited to 12 participants per session. H. Chan School of Public Health.

Yes. Authentic Internal Medicine uses EPIC, the same electronic medical record system as many Chicagoland health systems. The Care Everywhere portal lets the practice share records seamlessly with other EPIC-connected providers, keeping your care coordinated across health systems.
