About
At Blue Ridge Premier Medicine, five board-certified internists deliver adult primary care across Asheville, NC. Dr. Jim Cummings co-founded the practice in 2010, making it the first concierge medical practice of its kind in the city. Today the team includes Dr. Sarah Donahue, Dr. Davis Allen, Dr. Rick Arwood, and Dr. Stefanie Erway. Each physician caps their panel at 300 patients. Members reach their doctor 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by phone, cell, text, or email. After-hours calls route directly to the patient's own physician.
The practice covers the full arc of care, from preventive screenings and annual physicals to hospital admissions at Mission Hospital. Physicians make daily hospital visits and can arrange direct admissions that bypass the emergency room when appropriate. They also follow patients to Givens and Deerfield nursing care facilities. The annual comprehensive physical runs two to three hours; each physician reviews records and lab data in advance. The office handles X-rays, IV fluids, IV medications, and minor laceration repairs on-site. For complex conditions, the team guides patients through referrals to subspecialists, academic centers, and programs for rare diseases or experimental therapies.
