About
Russell Homan, MD, NABBLM-C, IBCLC grew up just outside Fort Worth, Texas and went on to study at Princeton University, where he met his wife Trish, a Floridian. He earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then completed his pediatrics residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Dr. Homan holds board certification in both general pediatrics and breastfeeding medicine, and he carries the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant credential. He is the only board certified breastfeeding physician in Tallahassee. His clinical background spans hospital medicine, pediatric emergency care, private practice, and service as a child-abuse medical director. He is also a Level 3 Positive Parenting Program counselor for children and adolescents. His clinical passions include breastfeeding medicine, tongue-tie, ADHD, infant food sensitivities, sleep issues, asthma, and eczema. He founded Canopy Pediatrics in 2019 because he wanted to spend real time with patients and their families. He has hospital privileges at HCA Florida Capital Regional Medical Center and will care for admitted members there. Outside the office, Dr. Homan fishes, mountain bikes, plays pickleball, and spends time with Trish, their three teenage boys, and the family dogs Olive and Skipper, who occasionally visit the practice.
