About
O. graduated with honors from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine roughly 25 years ago. He then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center. His early career included traditional office and hospital practice in southwest Georgia. After an F5 tornado destroyed the community hospital he served, Dr. Oster stepped into the role of Emergency Medicine Physician in temporary facilities. He later chose to specialize in inpatient medicine, spending more than a decade as a hospitalist and ultimately managing hospitalist groups.
That breadth of experience, across outpatient, emergency, and hospital settings, gave Dr. Oster a close view of how medicine works and where it falls short. He founded Edgefield Internal Medicine to recapture what he values most about the profession: knowing patients well and having enough time to truly care for them. His goal is to build genuine relationships with each patient and work together toward lasting health. He caps his panel at around 300 patients so that goal stays realistic. Dr. Oster gives members direct access to him personally, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, not a receptionist or nurse line. He also runs a Docs Blog to give patients ongoing health education and guidance.
