About

Dr. Priya Carden earned her BS from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1997. She went on to complete her MD at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago in 2002. Her residency in Internal Medicine took place at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where she finished in 2005 and then served as Primary Care Chief Resident at UW Madison and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Madison in 2006. She holds board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine, first certified in 2005 and recertified in 2014 and 2017. She also holds board certification from the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, certified in 2010 and recertified in 2023. She brings additional training in Functional Medicine and carries international medical experience from Nicaragua, Peru, Nepal, and India.

After her residency, Dr. Carden spent two years as both a Primary Care Physician and Academic Hospitalist in Madison, Wisconsin. She moved to Eugene in 2007 and worked as a PeaceHealth Hospitalist and Palliative Care Consultant until 2015, when she opened MapleTree Healing. She volunteers as a staff physician at Occupy Medical Clinic and previously served at WhiteBird Medical Clinic for nearly a decade. She teaches premed students from the University of Oregon, the University of Washington, and residents at Good Samaritan Family Medicine Residency. Her clinical passions include perimenopause and menopause care, geriatrics, end-of-life and hospice transitions, LGBTQIA2S+ care, and complex chronic illness. Dr. Carden is of South Indian Malayalee heritage, born in Chicago to immigrant parents. Outside the clinic she dances Bharatanatyam, practices ceramics, brews and ferments foods, sews, cooks, and hikes with her husband and three children.
