About
At OptumMD, three board-certified physicians deliver internal medicine, family medicine, and functional medicine from the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta. Dr. Edward Espinosa and Dr. Valerie Pershad co-founded the practice; Dr. Diana Rodgers later joined as the team's family medicine physician. The Atlantan magazine named OptumMD the Best Concierge Medical Practice in its 2025 Best of the City issue, a distinction determined by reader surveys and editorial review.
The practice builds care plans around longevity, prevention, and root-cause investigation. Its clinical toolkit extends well beyond standard lab work, covering cardiovascular risk assessment, functional medicine diagnostics, obesity medicine with GLP-1 therapies, hormone replacement, brain health screening, IV fluid therapy, and full-body longevity imaging including Prenuvo MRI and GRAIL Galleri multi-cancer screening. Registered Dietitian Emily Razza works alongside the physicians, providing Medical Nutrition Therapy and personalized nutrition plans. Members receive their physician's personal mobile number and can reach the team around the clock for urgent matters. OptumMD also donates 3% of all annual membership fees to a local charity each year; its current partner is Bert's Big Adventure, which supports children with chronic and terminal illnesses.
