About

Dr. Sandra Gelbard is a board-certified internist and the founder of Park Avenue Medical Concierge, which she established in 2006 as Manhattan's first concierge medical practice. She completed her medical degree and Internal Medicine residency at NYU Langone Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Before founding her practice, she chaired the Department of Hospital Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital and launched its first Hospitalist program. She then joined Lenox Hill/NYU Langone Medical Center as a full-time teaching attending. Today she continues as a Clinical Instructor at both NYU Langone and Lenox Hill Hospital.

Dr. Gelbard's undergraduate work in Biochemistry at Brandeis University introduced her to inflammation research early. C. Hayes studying cholesterol metabolism, vitamin supplementation, and inflammatory pathways. That research contributed to the development of Smart Balance products, sold nationally. Those formative years shaped her clinical philosophy: chronic inflammation drives all major disease states. She later pioneered her own Inflammation Score, a method she created to measure systemic inflammation through an annual biomarker panel. Her clinical focus spans longevity medicine, hormone management, metabolic health, cancer prevention, and genetic risk assessment. She developed LEAP Vitamins, a proprietary medical-grade supplement line tailored to each patient's lab results. Castle Connolly, New York Magazine, New York Times, and New York Super Doctors have each recognized her continuously since 2010 or 2015. Beyond her practice, Dr. Gelbard serves as Chief Medical Officer of the Endometriosis Foundation of America, chairs the annual Blossom Ball, and holds a Membership Chair position on the board of Independent Doctors of New York. She also sits on the board of the Bronx Documentary Center and received the Orphaned Starfish Foundation's Honoree of the Year award in 2024, traveling to Panama that year to work with children in need.
