He then finished his Family Medicine residency at Oregon Health Sciences in Portland, Oregon in 1989. Dr. Holmes spent eleven years in rural private practice in St. John, Washington before relocating to Provo. In July 2000, he joined the faculty of the Utah Valley Family Practice Residency Program, where he taught and trained family medicine physicians for two years. He joined Cottontree Family Practice in 2002 and has built a reputation for patient-centered, unhurried care. Patients have credited him with making their children genuinely look forward to doctor visits. Dr. Holmes earned the Patients' Choice Award in 2009, 2012, and 2014. Outside the office, he enjoys music, art, and time with his wife Pam, their four children, and seventeen grandchildren.
