About

Dr. Patty Swiney is a board-certified family physician and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She grew up in Mason, Ohio and earned a double major in Chemistry and Biology from Georgetown College. She then attended Wright State University School of Medicine for her MD. Her Family Medicine residency at the University of Kentucky concluded with a year as Chief Resident.

Dr. Swiney spent years in emergency medicine at Bourbon Community Hospital and worked at the Bourbon County Health Department before founding DirectCare Family Health. Conversations with colleagues practicing Direct Primary Care reaffirmed her long-held belief in primary care as a foundation of good health. She serves as Medical Director for Paris Bourbon County EMS and holds active membership in the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians. She also conducts Veterans Disability exams through VES-Veterans Evaluation Services on her days off. Her clinical passions include chronic disease management, addiction medicine using Suboxone, allergy care, and hereditary cancer risk assessment. Outside medicine, she enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and music. She and her husband Cohen live in Bourbon County, where their son Cooper farms and their daughter Maddy pursues graduate studies at the University of South Carolina.
