Dr. Pat F. Bass III, MD, MS, MPH has delivered primary care to adults and children in the Shreveport-Bossier area for more than 20 years. Known to his patients as Ricky, he completed both medical school and his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at LSUHSC Shreveport. He holds dual board certification in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, the Med-Peds combination that qualifies him to care for the full age spectrum. After residency, he spent four years in Kentucky at the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville before returning to LSUHSC as a faculty member in 2003. He later earned a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Instructional Design from the University of Kentucky.
At LSUHSC, Dr. Bass served as the institution's first Chief Medical Information Officer, overseeing the rollout of electronic medical records. He directed the Med-Peds training program and led Partners in Wellness, the cancer screening program for the Feist Weiller Cancer Center. His research received funding from the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, and the Health Services and Research Administration. He is passionate about hypertension, diabetes, ADHD, cognitive health, metabolic wellness, and men's health. Outside the clinic, he runs regularly, practices resistance band training, and has built a meditation practice influenced by entrepreneurs and business leaders including Ray Dalio.
