About
Dr. Louise R. Butler, DO, owns and operates Avalon Primary Care in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Southern California, just outside San Diego, and left home at 20 to pursue college and medical school in Maine. In July 1994, she moved to Lancaster to begin her Family Practice residency. She met her husband five months after arriving, and they married 18 months later.
After completing her residency, Dr. Butler spent four years practicing in North Carolina and nearly four years in Western Maryland before returning to Lancaster in 2001. She founded Avalon Primary Care in 2019, fulfilling her goal of practicing medicine on her own terms. As a Doctor of Osteopathy, she holds full medical licensure and incorporates Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy into her care. She treats a broad range of conditions including heart disease, diabetes, and chronic illness.
