Kathleen Russo, MD serves as Chief Medical Officer and Owner of Carolina HealthSpan Institute. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She then pursued a two-year Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona under Dr. Andrew Weil, a pioneer in the field. Her clinical focus spans hormone optimization, anti-aging and longevity, sexual wellness, gut health, and cognitive function. She brings over 20 years of healthcare experience to each patient relationship.

Dr. Russo builds individualized optimization programs rooted in each patient's specific causes, needs, and goals. She is passionate about concussion and TBI treatment through neurofeedback and helped lead the practice's participation in a national multi-site neurofeedback research trial. Beyond the clinic, she has started organizations to extend healthspan in communities from Rowan County, North Carolina to Zambia, Africa. An avid endurance athlete, she has completed 12 Boston Marathons, multiple ultra marathons, and the 80-mile MadAthlete Emerald Necklace 3-Day Stage Race.
