Dr. Josh Umbehr grew up in Alma, Kansas and attended Kansas State University, where he majored in human nutritional sciences and conducted research on the effects of vitamin A on lung cancer. He earned his medical degree from The University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He holds board certification in Family Medicine.
Dr. Umbehr founded Atlas MD after nearly a decade of envisioning his ideal practice. He wanted to focus entirely on patients without the interference of insurance and regulatory bureaucracy. Outside medicine, he and his wife Lisa raise three children: Katelyn, Paige, and Cole. Katelyn has Down Syndrome, and the family actively supports the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita. Dr. Umbehr sees patients at the Atlas MD East Office.
