Dr. Jeffrey Ponke graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wheaton College in Illinois in 1997. He earned his medical degree with honors from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 2001 and completed a Family Medicine residency with an emphasis in Rural Medicine at Queen's University in 2003. The following year, he completed a Surgical Assist training program at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

Dr. Ponke practiced medicine for more than twenty years in small towns and hospitals across Canada. He has served medical missions in Guatemala, the Republic of the Congo, and Ukraine. Since 2014, he has taught family medicine residents as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto. In 2023, he relocated with his family to Forest, Virginia to join Forest Direct Primary Care.
