Hope O'Brien, MD, MBA, FAHS, FAAN, is the founder and CEO of Headache Center of Hope in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up in Long Island, New York, born to parents of Jamaican descent, both of whom were registered nurses. S. with Honors Distinction in Research in Neuroscience from the University of Rochester College of Arts and Sciences in 1997. She then completed her medical training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, her preliminary internship in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital, and her neurology residency at the University of Cincinnati in 2009. She followed that with a clinical fellowship and a research fellowship in headache medicine, both at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, completing the latter in 2011. In 2018, she added a Master of Business Administration from Xavier University Williams College of Business.
Dr. O'Brien holds board certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties in Headache Medicine, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She earned fellowship status from both the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society. Her academic career at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center included directing the Young Adult Headache Clinic and leading the Headache Medicine Fellowship Education Program. She is passionate about pediatric and adolescent migraine, healthcare disparities in migraine care, and the transition of adolescents into adult migraine treatment.
