Dr. Ed Boland brings a background that spans military service, public health, and three decades of clinical medicine. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1983, served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, and later transitioned to the Army Medical Service Corps while pursuing a medical career. He earned his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1994.

Dr. Boland completed a Family Practice residency at Fort Gordon, Georgia, and a Preventive Medicine residency at Fort Lewis, Washington, finishing in 2001. He also holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington, earned in 2000. He holds board certification from the American Boards of Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Public Health, and Obesity Medicine. After retiring from the Army as a Colonel in 2011, he served as medical director of Live Healthy MD before joining Welcome Health, where he now serves as Managing Partner. His clinical focus includes obesity-associated diseases, tobacco use cessation, travel medicine, and dive medicine. An avid SCUBA diver, he serves on the Columbia County Dive Rescue and Recovery Team. He and his wife Mandy have been married more than 34 years and have three daughters.
