Derel Finch earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California at San Diego before completing his medical degree with Honors at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His classmates and faculty elected him to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society during his junior year. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center and returned to the University of Washington for his Pulmonology and Critical Care fellowship.
Dr. Finch spent his first decade in private practice as an internist and pulmonologist, earning repeated recognition as one of Seattle's top doctors. He then shifted to intensive care, working as an Intensivist across medical, surgical, neurologic, cardiac, and tele-ICU units for 13 years. He led the Critical Care Department at Swedish Medical Center before serving as Chief Medical Officer for the Swedish Cherry Hill Campus, overseeing quality and patient safety. Dr. Finch joined MD2 in 2023, focusing now on preventive medicine and wellness through sleep, exercise, and nutrition. Outside medicine, he serves on non-profit boards and enjoys kitesurfing, wing foiling, martial arts, hiking, cycling, and rock climbing with his family.
