Dr. Ashley Smith

Dr. Ashley Smith, M.D. was born in Huntsville, Alabama and grew up near St. Petersburg, Florida. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville and then attended medical school at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Upon graduating, she transitioned to active duty as a Lieutenant in the Navy and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, where she was selected for a six-week humanitarian mission aboard the USNS Mercy. She was later stationed at the Naval Hospital Guam as a staff physician and clinical director for aeromedical evacuations, and finished her service at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, supervising Family Medicine residents and chairing the hospital Infection Control Committee. Dr. Smith is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician who has made Chattanooga her home after completing her military service.
