Dr. Amy WatsonM.D.

Pediatrics

at Breakthrough Direct Care — Concord, NH

About

Dr. Amy Watson grew up in Norwood, MA and moved to New Hampshire in 2020 with her husband Justin. A. in Neuroscience and Psychology from Amherst College in 2007. During her undergraduate years, she performed brain surgery on rats as part of neuroscience research on reward mechanisms. That work opened doors to research roles at Harvard Medical School with Brigham and Women's Hospital, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the Treatment Research Institute, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She also captained the Amherst College Field Hockey team and earned MVP honors in her sophomore year.

She earned her M.D. from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2014. By her third year, she knew pediatrics was her calling. She completed her pediatric residency at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where she cared for patients facing gun violence, severe asthma, extreme poverty, and learning disabilities. That experience sharpened her relationship skills and deepened her commitment to unhurried, attentive care. During medical school, she received a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease, which gave her firsthand understanding of life with a chronic illness. She holds training in ADOS-2 diagnostic testing and conducts autism spectrum disorder evaluations herself. Outside the office, Dr. Watson enjoys hiking, visiting farm animals, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, and reading fantasy novels, thrillers, and quirky medical nonfiction.
