About
Amanda Dornfeld, MD, NABBLM-C, IBCLC, grew up in Indiana and completed her medical education at Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University of Chicago. She describes that training as a holistic foundation well-suited for a career in family medicine. She then moved to Muncie, Indiana to complete her residency in Family Medicine at Ball Memorial Hospital, gaining broad clinical experience in pediatrics, obstetrics, and adult care.
After residency, Dr. Dornfeld chose Columbus as her home and spent 13 years practicing full-spectrum family medicine there, caring for patients in the hospital, in the office, and delivering babies. In 2020, she and her family relocated to Whitianga, New Zealand, where she worked as a rural GP. More than 70% of her patients during that time were over age 65. She returned to Columbus and opened Sage Direct Care to deliver relationship-driven primary care on her own terms. Dr. Dornfeld holds board certification through the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons and has maintained her IBCLC credential since 2011. She ranks among the first 250 physicians in the country certified by the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine. Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine appointed her as an Assistant Clinical Professor, and she teaches medical students directly in her office. Married to David for 27 years, she has three children who attended BCSC schools. Her personal interests include hiking, travel, and time with family.
