The practice accepts new patients 18 years of age and older. The team expanded its hours to accommodate new patients with minimal wait times. Both Dr. Holtz and Dr. Holubka see adult patients at the West Orange office.

The practice uses a retainer-based model for patients 65 and older, a structure in place since July 2012. Patients between 18 and 64 do not pay a retainer fee unless they are on Medicare. The full details of the retainer agreement are available in the office.

Howard Holtz MD participates with traditional Medicare Part B only. The practice does not participate in Medicare Advantage plans or any commercial insurance plans. Patients with out-of-network coverage can receive reimbursement for part or all of a visit, and the practice submits all claims electronically.

Yes. The practice provides 24/7 coverage every day of the year through an answering service. When the office is closed, Dr. Holtz or a covering doctor responds promptly to patient calls. The practice asks patients with routine requests to call during regular office hours.

The practice offers same-day appointments for urgent care. The schedule does not use double-booking, which keeps wait times low for all patients. The practice returns all phone calls the same day they are received.

Howard Holtz MD offers a broad range of preventive services. These include cardiovascular prevention, cancer screening, vaccinations, lifestyle and nutrition counseling, and exercise prescriptions. Dr. Holtz asks every patient to schedule an annual preventive history and physical exam.

The practice requires at least 24 hours advance notice to cancel an appointment. 00 charge. Patients should contact the office directly to reschedule, ideally at least one week before a scheduled appointment.

The practice uses IMA hospitalists for inpatient hospital admissions. Dr. Holtz and Dr. Holubka consult on in-patient care as much as possible. Dr. Holubka sees patients in the office before planned admissions to complete any required medical clearance. Hospital and sub-acute care costs are covered by insurances.

The practice performs a wide range of in-office procedures. These include electrocardiograms, spirometry, fingerstick blood glucose and INR testing, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, Holter monitor EKG recording, peripheral vascular disease screening with Doppler ankle-brachial index, inhaler treatments, wound care, ear wax removal, and rapid strep testing, among others.

Howard Holtz MD is located in Atkins Medical Plaza at 1500 Pleasant Valley Way, Suite 205, in West Orange, New Jersey. The office sits at the intersection of Northfield Avenue and Pleasant Valley Way. Regular office hours run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Wednesday from 10 AM to 4 PM.
