About
At Family Physicians of St. Joseph, DPC, four physician-owners deliver full-spectrum family medicine to patients across Southwest Michigan. Drs. Michael Eggebrecht, Leanne Mancini, Allison Meadows, and James Gendernalik lead the practice, joined by Dr. Brendan Barnes. The practice traces its roots to 1986, when Dr. George Heenan and Dr. John Proos built it from the ground up in Berrien County.
In October 2017, the team made a pivotal move: they left their longtime building and became the first true Direct Primary Care practice in the entire region. Members pay $70 per month with no copays and no surprise bills. The physicians stay reachable by phone, text, and email around the clock, every day of the year. Appointments run at least 30 minutes, and same-day or next-day visits cover acute needs. The practice offers a wide range of in-office procedures, labs, imaging, and a medication dispensary. Families who joined in the 1980s still come in today, now bringing their children and grandchildren.
