About
Dr. Thao Tran founded Radiant Health Direct Primary Care to strengthen the doctor-patient relationship and serve her community. Her path to medicine began at age 15, when her mother received a cancer diagnosis. After school each day, she visited the library to translate medical books so her mother could stay informed about her own treatment. That early devotion to patient advocacy shaped everything that followed.
Dr. Tran earned a full-ride scholarship to Wright State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude as her high school's valedictorian. She then earned the Boonshoft Scholars Scholarship, a full-tuition award, to attend Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. Before medical school, she volunteered at local hospitals for eight years and worked as a medical interpreter for two companies. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, one of the nation's top 25 family medicine programs, with a focus on Academic, Global, and Underserved Health. She holds board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine and Civil Surgeon certification from the Department of Homeland Security. Dr. Tran speaks English and Vietnamese and has served as a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church since 2001, where she volunteers as a piano and organ player, Vietnamese language teacher, and Bible class instructor. She also started the Health Communication program there. A mother of three, she enjoys painting, photography, and caring for animals.
