Dr. Steve Lau grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and has called Texas home since 1984. He completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and earning election to Tau Beta Pi. He then pursued his medical training and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Lau holds board certification in internal medicine.

He began private practice in 1999 on the Medical City Hospital campus, where he served as Section Chief of Internal Medicine, Director of the Hospitalist Program, and Chairman of Utilization Review and Health Information Management. In 2017, he relocated his practice to Preston Center. He views health as a person's most precious resource and never trades quality of care for speed.
