About

S. Clark Trask, MD grew up on St. Helena Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina, back when the area was still largely agricultural. He attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, spent a post-graduate year in France, and then earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Vanderbilt University in 1990. After college, he worked on Kodiak Island in Alaska, taught English in Japan, and traveled through Southeast Asia, India, and Nepal. It was in Nepal, after a member of his climbing party died of altitude sickness, that he felt a pull toward medicine.

Dr. Trask returned to Beaufort in 1992, completed an EMT course, and finished pre-med coursework at the College of Charleston. He entered the Medical University of South Carolina in 1995 and earned his MD in 1999. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Mountain Area Health Education Consortium and Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina in 2002. He then spent a year in New Zealand with his wife Evy and infant daughter before returning to Beaufort in 2004. He holds board certification from both the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Bariatric Medicine, the latter earned in 2007 through his sustained interest in nutrition and lifestyle medicine. His clinical passions include aerobic fitness, preventive care, metabolic health, and VO2 max testing. Outside the office, he enjoys time on the river with his family, hiking in the North Carolina mountains, woodworking, tennis, and sea kayaking.
