Dr. Robert Rakowczyk (pronounced rah-COVE-chik) is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and the founder of Still Point Direct Primary Care in New Braunfels, Texas. He grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and earned dual undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Philosophy from New Mexico State University. Before entering medicine, he served seven years in the US Navy as a nuclear-trained Submarine Officer.
Dr. Rakowczyk earned his medical degree at The Ohio State University, where the Gold Humanism Honor Society inducted him for his patient-centered approach. He then completed a three-year Family Medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, graduating with the Jean Thompson Award for Most Compassionate Resident. During residency, he finished the 200-hour Integrative Medicine in Residency curriculum through the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. He holds additional training in clinical hypnosis through the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis and completed Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program. He is passionate about mind-body medicine and brings clinical hypnosis and MBSR directly into patient care. At home, he spends time with his wife Amy and their three daughters, and tends to what he cheerfully admits is an unreasonably large collection of potted fruit trees.
