About

Dr. Rachel Abuav is a board-certified dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology practicing in Beverly Hills, California. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. She then completed a research fellowship at Rockefeller University, funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institution, before beginning her dermatology residency at The Johns Hopkins University. After residency, she joined the Johns Hopkins faculty as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology for three years. During that time she worked closely with the Department of Rheumatology and became one of the nation's first Dermatology Hospitalists at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

In 2010, Dr. Abuav joined Cedars-Sinai Medical Group, where she held academic appointments as Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She spent 12 years building deep expertise in autoimmune blistering disorders, connective tissue diseases, allergic contact dermatitis, and skin cancer. She performs patch testing and thorough allergen-avoidance counseling for patients with allergic contact dermatitis. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on autoimmune and dermatologic conditions, and she sits on the Medical Advisory Board for Lupus LA. In 2022, Dr. Abuav founded her private micro practice in Beverly Hills to spend more focused time with each patient. Outside of medicine, she lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children.
