About

Dr. Melissa Jones, DO, founded Priority Care, PC in Charlotte after training at some of the country's strong family medicine programs. She earned her B.S. in Biology from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. She then completed her medical degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where she trained in osteopathic medicine. Her residency in Family Medicine took place at Carolinas Medical Center, now part of Atrium Health, right here in Charlotte.

Dr. Jones considered neurology during medical school but chose family medicine for its whole-body approach and the chance to build lasting patient relationships. Her osteopathic training included more than 200 additional hours of musculoskeletal study and hands-on work in osteopathic manipulation therapy. She spent a month with Samaritan's Purse in Kenya providing direct healthcare services. She is passionate about transgender health and follows WPATH Standards of Care when providing feminization and masculinization therapy. Dr. Jones serves as Board President of Transcend Charlotte and belongs to both the Charlotte Transgender Healthcare Group and the Plaza Midwood Merchants Association. Outside the office, she walks the trails at Evergreen Nature Reserve with her Mini Australian Shepherd, Roscoe, explores Charlotte neighborhoods by bike, and runs two book clubs.
