About
Matti Jansen, MD, grew up in Santa Barbara and returned to her hometown to build her medical career. S. in Microbiology from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where she graduated on the Dean's List and the President's Honors List. During her undergraduate years, she completed a research fellowship through Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, conducting tropical disease research in rural communities in Ecuador. That work sparked a lasting passion for global health.
Dr. Jansen attended Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Medical School for International Health, in Collaboration with Columbia University Medical Center, a program built around global and cross-cultural medicine. She completed an eight-week health clerkship in Uganda, including several weeks in the HIV and tuberculosis ward at Mulago Hospital in Kampala. Back in Santa Barbara, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and served as Chief Medical Resident in her third year. She holds board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine, earned in 2012. After residency, she spent ten years between primary care at Sansum Clinic and acute care as a rotating hospitalist at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. She holds active medical staff membership at both Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine, women's health, nutrition, and managing chronic disease for long-term quality of life.
