Dr. Mark Machalka grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois. He went on to complete his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago, then trained in a family practice residency at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. He furthered his clinical training with an obstetrics fellowship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Machalka joined Marshall Medical Associates in 2004 and practiced there for over a decade before opening Whole Family Direct Care in April 2017. He holds board certification in Family Medicine and belongs to both the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians. In 2016, he became Medical Director of Oaklawn Hospice while continuing his work as a family physician. He delivers babies and cares for newborns in the hospital, and his clinical scope spans every stage of life. Dr. Machalka lives in Marshall with three grown children. Outside the office, he enjoys gardening, swimming, running, and reading.
