Dr. Leslie Thomas earned his medical doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He then completed both an internal medicine residency and a nephrology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. With over 15 years of clinical experience, he holds national recognition as an expert in nephrology.

At Mayo Clinic Arizona, Dr. Thomas served as Chair of the Clinical Competency Committee for the Nephrology Fellowship Program and as Associate Chair of Research for the Division of Nephrology. He also served as Medical Director of Hospital Dialysis and Medical Director of Mayo's affiliated outpatient dialysis facility. Nationally, he contributed to the In-Training Exam Test Item Development Committee of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the Item-Writing Task Force of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and ABIM's standard setting committee. His honors include the James D. Heard Senior Prize in Medicine and multiple patient satisfaction and medical education awards from Mayo Clinic.
