Dr. Bithika M. Thompson graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency and a fellowship in endocrinology, metabolism, and lipid research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She brings more than a decade of experience managing complex endocrine disorders.
Dr. Thompson joined Mayo Clinic Arizona in 2014 and rose to Chair of the Department of Endocrinology. She co-founded the Diabetes Technology Clinic at Mayo Clinic Arizona, growing the program tenfold through her leadership. Her clinical expertise spans diabetes, thyroid conditions, obesity, and osteoporosis, with a particular focus on advanced diabetes technology systems. For seven years, she served as Endocrine Block Leader for Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, teaching second-year medical students through didactic instruction, physical exam training, and pharmacology reviews. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Southwest Chapter of Breakthrough T1D and leads outreach and educational initiatives at the national level. Phoenix Magazine has recognized her with multiple Top Doctor honors. Dr. Thompson integrates the latest clinical science with shared decision-making to build personalized wellness plans for each patient. Outside the clinic, she hikes, plays pickleball, and spends time with her family and dog.
