About

Dr. Joseph Peila grew up in Shepherd, Montana and built his medical career with a clear intention to return home. He earned his undergraduate degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience from Montana State University. He then completed medical school at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Colorado.

After residency, Dr. Peila spent two years as an outpatient internist at Kaiser Permanente in Denver. He returned to Montana in 2017 and joined Billings Clinic as an internist before launching Pinnacle Internal Medicine. He holds board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned fellowship in the American College of Physicians. Dr. Peila also served as faculty for the Billings Clinic Internal Medicine Residency program and as a clinical educator for medical students. His clinical focus spans hypertension, diabetes, COPD, asthma, thyroid disorders, depression, anxiety, and complex multi-organ disease. Outside the clinic, he spends time with his wife Sarah and their four children. He also works on the family ranch, skis, hikes, and hunts.
