John J. White, MD, FACP FASN grew up in Dalton, Georgia and has spent nearly his entire adult life in Augusta. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2000. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Erlanger Medical Center, University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he earned Resident of the Year in 2003. He then returned to Augusta for his Nephrology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia, finishing in 2005.
After fellowship, Dr. White joined the faculty at Augusta University, where he served as a Professor of Medicine and Master Teacher. He spent 16 years teaching medical students, internal medicine residents, and nephrology fellows. He holds board certification in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Clinical Hypertension. Dr. White believes a healthy lifestyle functions as a form of treatment, often more effective than medication.
