About
Dr. Jes Sloan grew up in Charlotte and has called North Carolina home her entire life. Her path to medicine was anything but direct. She studied Environmental Biology at Appalachian State University, then spent a year in a PhD program in Evolutionary Biology in Austin, Texas. She left that program, taught high school for two years in Wilmington, and then decided to become a doctor. That decision held.
Dr. Sloan earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 2008. She completed her Family Medicine residency at Duke/SRAHEC in Fayetteville in 2011 and has practiced in Cumberland and Harnett counties ever since. She holds board certification in Family Medicine and brings particular expertise in managing diabetes, COPD, thyroid disorders, and psychiatric conditions without specialist referrals. She is passionate about caring for whole families and finds deep satisfaction in seeing multiple generations in a single visit. Outside the exam room, she sings, volunteers with H3 Street Medicine in Sanford, attends Trinity Lutheran Church, and is learning Japanese. She has three children; her husband, Dr. Don Sloan, practices family dentistry in Broadway, NC.
