Dr. Jerry M. S. Air Force Academy in 1994 and went on to earn both a Doctor of Medicine and dual master's degrees in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University in 1998. He completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of California at Davis at David Grant Medical Center in 2001. He later added fellowships in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nevada and Faculty Development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

S. Air Force, including time as a flight surgeon and Rescue Doc aboard HH-60 helicopters and C-130 and C-17 aircraft. He served over 700 days across 23 countries and delivered more than 1,500 mothers and babies. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. After retiring from military service, he founded Grassroots Healthcare Foundation to bring affordable, whole-person care to his community. He practices a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of medicine and holds that healing happens through the body, mind, spirit, and community.
