About
Heather Hyun, DO brings one of the more unconventional paths to medicine in South Pasadena. She grew up outside Chicago, then moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Critical Studies and Film Production. After graduation, she worked as a film and television sound effects editor. During that period, she began training in Tae Soo Do and Hwa Rang Do, two Korean martial arts. She earned a black belt in Tae Soo Do, became an instructor, and apprenticed a licensed acupuncturist who specialized in Tui-Na, a form of Chinese manual manipulation.
A year of travel across Asia brought her back ready to pursue medicine. She completed a year at Emperors College of Traditional Oriental Medicine before gaining acceptance to Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. There, she earned the pre-doctoral fellowship in osteopathic manipulation - an honor the school extends to just two students per graduating class. She completed her residency at the Glendale Adventist Family Medicine Residency Program and earned her Medical Acupuncture Certification through the Helms Medical Institute during that training. She holds dual board certification in Family Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine. Her clinical passions include osteopathic manipulative medicine, medical acupuncture, integrative women's health, perimenopause care, IV nutritional therapy, and injection therapies. Outside the office, she is married to her college sweetheart, raises two boys, and enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, and martial arts.
