About
Eric J. Hernandez, MD, is a board-certified family physician and the founder of Alpine Woods Medical. He grew up in Littleton, Colorado, having moved there from the Bay Area of San Francisco at two weeks old. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Anatomy and Neurobiology from Colorado State University. He earned his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Washington, Family Medicine Spokane.
After residency, Dr. Hernandez worked in rural Emergency Rooms at two separate community hospitals. Those years deepened his passion for patient education and showed him that thorough education required more time than the ER could offer. He transitioned into primary care and spent five years splitting his week between concierge medicine in Vail and traditional family medicine in Niwot, Colorado. That dual experience shaped his vision for Alpine Woods Medical. He holds membership in the American Medical Association, the Colorado Medical Society, the Boulder County Medical Society, and the American Academy of Private Physicians. He serves on the Medical Advisory Committee for the St. Vrain Valley School District and acts as Medical Coordinator for Helping Hands Health Education, a 501(c)(3) charity delivering health care and education in developing countries. He also volunteers with Healthy Learning Paths, teaching school-aged children about healthy habits.
