Dr. Christine Pluta earned her Bachelor of Science from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia before completing her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ - School of Osteopathic Medicine, now Rowan SOM. She finished her residency in family medicine at UMDNJ-SOM and holds board certification in family medicine. She is licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
After residency, Dr. Pluta spent two years in California working in health clinics that served marginalized Latin American and Mexican populations, including migrant workers. In 2003, she returned to Philadelphia to treat the underserved and uninsured at a non-profit clinic. She also practiced family medicine at the University of Pennsylvania while working part-time for a geriatric house call practice. Personal experience with her father's debilitating illness deepened her commitment to homebound geriatric care. She founded Schuylkill Medical Associates in 2007 and has logged more than 10,000 home visits since. She is fluent in Spanish and is a member of the American Academy of Home Care Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Outside medicine, Dr. Pluta has completed marathons and triathlons, plays piano at her Catholic church, and shares her home with Goldendoodle Moby - a certified therapy dog through Comfort Caring Canines - and rescue Bernedoodle Rocky.
