Dr. Brooke Jackson is a board-certified dermatologist, dermatologic surgeon, and healthy skin advocate based in Durham, NC. She earned her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and her medical degree from Georgetown University. She completed her internship at the University of Chicago and her dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Dr. Jackson then pursued fellowship training in laser surgery at Harvard University, becoming the first African-American dermatologist to receive that prestigious fellowship. Her research there helped pioneer the use of lasers in skin of color. She completed a second fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery in Houston and later founded the Mohs surgery unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She held faculty positions at Harvard, Northwestern, MD Anderson, and UNC before opening Skin Wellness Dermatology Associates in 2016. Dr. Jackson lectures nationally and internationally on lasers and cosmetic procedures in skin of color. She has authored two books, including the Amazon best seller "Skin Care for Runners," and launched the JOYLAskin skincare line in 2022 for everyday athletes. An avid runner, she has finished 10 marathons and 8 triathlons. She served on the board of directors of Girls on the Run and founded Chicago Fit, a marathon training group with over 400 members. She is married with three children and enjoys cooking plant-based meals and spending time outdoors.
