She earned her Bachelor of Sociology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, then completed a Master of Biomedical Science at The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her medical degree came from Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, and she completed her Family Practice residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
