Platypus Pediatrics

Membership at Platypus Pediatrics runs $65 per month for children ages 2 through 24. Infants and toddlers from birth to 23 months are $80 per month. Families pay a one-time enrollment fee of $59 per person or $99 per family. The practice offers a 5% discount for quarterly payment and a 10% discount for annual payment. Family monthly fees cap at $260 regardless of family size.

The membership covers all in-office services. That includes well child visits, unlimited sick visits, acute and chronic care, behavioral counseling, urgent care, in-office labs, blood draws, and procedures like minor wound care, laceration repair, wart removal, and foreign body removal. Telemedicine visits are included as well. At-cost laboratory testing, at-cost imaging, and wholesale medications are available separately at additional cost.

Platypus Pediatrics does not bill health insurance and charges no copays. The practice recommends that members maintain insurance for situations requiring hospitalization, surgery, or specialist care. Most specialists require insurance, and DPC membership does not replace coverage for those needs.

Yes. As of 2021, DPC membership dues qualify as a medical expense for HSA purposes. You can use your health savings account to cover the monthly membership fee at Platypus Pediatrics.

The practice guarantees same-day or next-day appointments for all members. Patients do not wait when they arrive. Dr. Damon is also reachable by phone, text, video, and email outside of scheduled visits.

Yes. Members choose between virtual and in-person visits. Dr. Damon conducts secure video visits, and members can also reach her by phone, text, or email through the Spruce messaging platform.

The practice sees patients from birth through college age. Families can begin care prenatally if known complications or questions exist before delivery.

The practice strongly supports routine childhood vaccines and encourages families to follow the recommended immunization schedule. At this time, Platypus Pediatrics does not administer vaccines in-office. Families can get immunizations at the local health department, a traditional pediatric practice, or a local pharmacy for children two years and older.

Current law prevents Platypus Pediatrics from accepting Medicaid patients. The practice actively works with state legislators to change that. Families who use Medicaid can request placement on a wait list in the meantime.

The practice asks for 30 days notice before cancellation. Members who pay quarterly or annually receive a refund for their remaining unused balance. The one-time enrollment fee is non-refundable; rejoining after cancellation requires paying it again.
