About
At Hope for Healing in Shenandoah, Texas, Dr. Paula Kruppstadt leads a functional medicine and primary care practice serving patients from newborns through older adults. She founded the practice to deliver root-cause wellness to the Houston area and beyond. The team has since grown to include adult and pediatric providers, health coaches, and a nutrigenomics provider.
Every licensed medical provider at Hope for Healing holds training from the Institute for Functional Medicine. The practice moves patients through care in a deliberate sequence: Lifestyle, then Genetics, then Medical. Genetic testing through GX Sciences panels shapes personalized treatment plans for each patient. The practice handles complex chronic conditions including CIRS, mold toxicity, PANS/PANDAS, Lyme disease, autoimmune disorders, and hormone imbalances. IV therapy, ozone therapy, nutrition counseling, and group lifestyle coaching round out the clinical offerings. Both in-person and telehealth appointments are available, with an initial in-person visit required for a comprehensive physical exam.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hope for Healing requires a membership before patients can establish care with a medical provider. The membership covers administrative costs and includes supplement discounts, functional therapy discounts, free access to practice events, and an exclusive community platform. The membership fee does not cover visits with medical providers, health coaches, or the nutrigenomics provider. Those visits carry separate costs.
Hope for Healing operates as a cash-based practice and does not bill insurance for its services. Patients pay directly for memberships and clinical visits. Some patients choose to submit claims to their insurance independently, but the practice does not handle that process.
Yes. Hope for Healing offers primary care with a functional medicine approach for both adult and pediatric patients. The practice can serve as your primary care provider. For patients who already have a primary care provider outside the practice, the team coordinates and refers back to that provider for sick visits and routine checkups as needed.
Hope for Healing sees patients from newborns through older adults and geriatrics. Dr. Kruppstadt describes this range as womb to tomb. The practice includes both adult and pediatric providers to support the full spectrum of patients.
Yes, Hope for Healing offers both in-person and virtual appointments. New patients must complete their initial visit in person so the provider can conduct a comprehensive physical exam. After that, many follow-up visits are available via telehealth. The practice also requires at least one in-person visit annually.
Hope for Healing guides patients through a three-step sequence built on years of clinical experience. The practice starts with lifestyle modifications, which form the foundation of the functional medicine approach. Genetic testing through GX Sciences panels comes next, revealing each patient's unique biological makeup. Medical intervention follows, informed by both lifestyle and genetic findings. This sequence helps the team identify root causes rather than manage symptoms alone.
Hope for Healing offers an 8-week group lifestyle coaching program at $499 per participant. Weekly sessions cover stress, nutrition, sleep, movement, relationships, and time and money management. Sessions run both online and in person. This program is separate from membership and individual clinical visits.
The practice specializes in a wide range of complex chronic conditions. These include CIRS and biotoxin illness, mold toxicity, PANS/PANDAS, Lyme disease and Bartonella, autoimmune disease, gut health issues, hormone imbalances, thyroid and adrenal disorders, fibromyalgia, autism spectrum disorder, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, and fertility concerns. Dr. Kruppstadt holds a governor-appointed position on the Texas PANS Advisory Council and is a recognized expert in that area.

The practice also offers ozone therapy with O3UV, IM injections, IV pushes, and nutrigenomics consultations through a certified GX Sciences provider. Health coaching and nutrition counseling are available as well.
