Burkhart Direct Family Care

Individual membership costs $100 per month. Couples enroll for $175 per month, and children add on for $25 to $75 per month. A one-time new patient consultation fee of $175 applies when joining. The practice waives that fee for additional family members who join within one calendar month of the first family member.

The membership covers all office visits, same-day sick visits, telehealth consultations, preventive care, chronic disease management, pediatric care, procedures, and routine bloodwork. Members also receive free generic medications delivered to their home, up to six mail-order shipments per year. Members never pay a co-pay or additional fee for Dr. Burkhart's time.

Yes. Burkhart Direct Family Care offers same-day in-person and telehealth visits for urgent needs. Members can also reach Dr. Burkhart directly by text or phone 24/7 for questions and concerns.

No. Burkhart Direct Family Care does not require members to carry health insurance. The practice does not bill insurance companies for visits or charge co-pays. Members with insurance can still enroll and use their coverage for outside services like specialist visits or imaging.

HSA funds cover medications, labs, imaging, and other healthcare costs at Burkhart Direct Family Care. Current law does not allow HSA funds to pay for a DPC membership itself, because a DPC membership qualifies as a healthcare service rather than a healthcare plan.

The practice accepts Medicare and Medicaid patients, but it does not bill either program. Dr. Burkhart has opted out of Medicare to comply with applicable law. Patients may not seek reimbursement from Medicare or Medicaid for services received at the practice.

Yes. Burkhart Direct Family Care provides telehealth consultations and home visits when appropriate. Both options are included in the membership at no additional charge.

Dr. Burkhart performs a range of procedures in-office, all included in the membership. These include cryotherapy, corticosteroid injections, joint splinting, laceration repair, incision and drainage of cysts, and cyst removal. The practice also performs EKGs and point-of-care ultrasound imaging.

Routine bloodwork is included in the membership. For additional labs and imaging, Burkhart Direct Family Care offers wholesale pricing through partnerships with local providers. The practice partners with Abercrombie Radiology, Tennova facilities through the MDSave program, and East TN Pathology for specimens. Dr. Burkhart recommends Mosaic Breast Imaging for mammograms.

Members may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect immediately, and the practice does not reimburse fees if billing has already occurred for that month. Patients who cancel and wish to re-enroll pay a $275 re-enrollment fee. The practice applies this fee to discourage repeated short-term use of services.
