About

At Assurance Healthcare & Counseling Center, family medicine and mental health care share equal footing under one roof. Co-founders Richard Edgerly, MD, and Holly Porter, LMHC opened the Yakima practice on January 1st, 2014. Their goal was straightforward: make healthcare simple, affordable, and accessible. Dr. Joseph Vickers joined the physician team in 2023, bringing additional family medicine depth to the practice. The practice runs on a flat $125 monthly membership with no copays, no deductibles, and no insurance billing. Members reach their physician directly by phone, 24 hours a day. Labs, X-rays, and medications pass through to members at cost, with no markup. More than a thousand individuals and over 60 employer groups in Yakima trust Assurance for their care. The practice also hosts integrated counseling programs, including grief groups, anxiety workshops, and collage art therapy, making it one of the more clinically broad DPC practices in the region.

Standard appointments run 30 minutes. Members also have access to same-day appointments for illness or injury. The practice does not overbook, so visits focus on the patient, not the clock.
