About
Dr. Thomas Ziering graduated Magna Cum Laude from Muhlenberg College with a dual major in Biology and Natural Science. He earned his MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers). He completed his residency at the Robert Wood Johnson/Somerset Medical Center Family Practice Program, where his colleagues honored him with the Resident Educator Award.
His passion for medicine took root early. The same family physician who delivered him also cared for multiple generations of his family, and that model of generational trust shaped his approach. After residency, Dr. Ziering served as a Clinical Researcher for experimental medications during the first wave of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. He later became an educator on antidepressant development for the University System. In 1992, he joined Morristown Medical Center and became Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine. He went on to study Transitional Medicine and LGBTQ-specific healthcare, serving as Medical Director for LGBTQ Healthcare. Dr. Ziering holds board certification in Family Medicine and earned the distinction of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practitioners. Over his 30-plus year career, he has received more than 20 honors and awards, including recognition in the Castle Connolly Guide, NJ Magazine, NY Magazine, Ladies Home Journal, US News and World Report, and designations such as Most Compassionate Doctors and America's Most Honored Doctors. Outside the office, he enjoys gardening, cooking, swimming, theater, and the arts. He lives in Randolph, NJ with his husband and has two grown children, a granddaughter, and a dog.
