Dr. Terry Belden earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the College of Wooster in 1980. He then completed a Master of Science in Biology at the University of Akron in 1982. His medical degree came from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, where the Department of Family Medicine named him Student of the Year in 1986. He completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at the Greenville Hospital System in South Carolina. The program selected him as both Resident of the Year and Chief Resident in 1989.

Dr. Belden holds board certification from the American Board of Family Practice and has practiced in Myrtle Beach ever since his residency. He has served Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in multiple leadership roles, including Chief of Staff, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Chairman of the Department of Medicine. He also serves as Director of Myrtle Beach Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, a role he has held since 1989. The Herald recognized him as Best of the Year Physician from 2005 to 2009, and Suns News named him Best Family Physician from 1998 to 2009.
