About
Dr. Tacara Soones founded Dahlia Physician Housecalls to bring dedicated, relationship-driven care to Houston seniors. She earned her BA from Harvard University and her MD and MPH from Columbia University. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency, Chief Residency, and Geriatrics Fellowship at the University of California San Francisco.
Dr. Soones holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. Before founding Dahlia, she served as a housecalls physician at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and as Section Chief of Geriatrics at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Her clinical passions include dementia care, fall prevention, medication safety, and supporting family caregivers through the complexities of aging. Both of her grandmothers lived with dementia, and that personal history deeply shapes her approach to dementia caregiving. Houstonia Magazine named her a Top Doctor in 2025. Outside of medicine, she quilts by hand, hikes, and raises two young children, Lilah and Miles, alongside her husband Sam in Houston.
