at MODO MD — Wailea, HI

About

Dr. Reza Danesh built MODO MD from the ground up, starting with a single branded car and a solo nurse. He now leads one of Maui's most recognized private medical practices. Known widely as Dr. Rez, he brings over 25 years of emergency medical services experience to every patient encounter.

He majored in Marine Biology at UCLA before earning his medical degree at UC Davis School of Medicine. A semester at the University of Hawai'i first drew him toward the islands. He completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center, then finished his Emergency Medicine residency at UCLA. He holds board certification in Emergency Medicine and is board-eligible with the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Before relocating to Maui, he practiced as an attending physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as in-house physician for the Four Seasons Resort Maui. He is deeply passionate about addiction medicine and serves as Medical Director for several rehabilitation facilities. His partnership with Maui Recovery combines NAD+ infusions and GLP-1 agonists to treat alcohol use disorder. In 2022, he founded the MODO for the People nonprofit and launched MODO Mondays, a mobile street medicine program providing free care to underserved Maui residents and Lahaina fire survivors. MODO MD has also been featured on the Emmy Award-winning HBO series The White Lotus, and Dr. Danesh appeared on NPR, CNN, ABC, and NBC during coverage of the Maui fires.
