D. grew up in Germany and first came to the Kimberton, PA area in 2001, spending a year at The Camphill School, a school serving children with developmental disabilities. He attended medical school at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany, with portions of his clinical training at McGill University in Canada and the Ita Wegman Klinik in Switzerland. After finishing medical school in 2010, he worked at the Ita Wegman Klinik as a resident physician for one year.

Dr. Knauf completed a four-year Family Medicine residency at Middlesex Hospital in Connecticut. He then completed a two-year long-distance Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Arizona Center of Integrative Medicine, University of Arizona. He holds board certification in Family Medicine and certification in Anthroposophic Medicine. Dr. Knauf has special clinical interests in pediatrics, child development, and preventive care. He lives with his wife and two children at The Camphill School, where he serves as school physician. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing music.
